Our first step for this assignment was to choose 6 images and build grids over them. We then isolated 1 of the 6 grids and generated two variations for a total of three grids, making each grid unique yet structurally harmonious with the original. We then built a visual communication solution on each of the 3 grids. The goal was to make this set of 3 solution thematically and structurally unified.

This design is based off of dada (photomontage) and constructivism. With these two movements we prepared a design for music and packaging. The goal was that our music and design could be configured to drive a socio/political agenda. Included in the design packaging is the front and back cover, cd label, 6 page booklet (front and back) and a pop poster.

This design demonstrates the use of modular grids, baseline grids, and how they can be employed for visual continuity. We were designing for maximal variance on individual pages while regulating the entire sequence.

The objective of this assignment was to generate the contents of three recipes on food or any other consistent theme, I chose potions. I designed each one as if it were part of a coherent set of recipes. These recipes were designed with the assistance of grids, page structure and rhythmic pacing. The objective was to create a multi-page visual rhythm with tones and textures in simple rectangles.

5 - Kelsi Mooney BFA: DOVAD Typographic Syntax

For this project we designed a 6 page accordion book about the DOVAD building. The objective of this project was to think about the messaging process and how, as a designer, we direct the communication through our design; the idea was that the building had it's own voice.

6 - Kelsi Mooney BFA: Empire - Personal Typeface

6- Mooney, “Arcade Empire – Personal Typeface,” Adobe Illustrator, 11”x17”, Experimental Typography 2014

I created this font using fontstruct software. The goal for this typeface is to be an old school rounded, bold-style letterform. I have shown my personal font applied to a paragraph accompanied by another typeface to display how it may work with another typeface. I then took my personal font into Illustrator and made an arcade themed poster to demonstrate my typeface.

7 - Kelsi Mooney BFA: Robinson

In this class we were learning about design activism, our assignment was to come up with a design solution to a problem. This project came from the contemporary culture of blacks and how they were perceived and recognized by the whole world. Mainly, I focused on Jackie Robinson's cultural impact and how he became an American legend and hero to all. My goal was to show the viewers how powerful of an impact one man can be in this world. This information is already out there, I am just bringing this information forward once again because I believe that all viewers should be reminded of this time and recognize any racial segregation that is still occurring today.

This business was looking for a t-shirt design that the girls in the office could wear. They wanted something more fun, girly and fashionable than their original t-shirt logo designs. My objective was to create a design that was completely different while still pulling off some relation to the comapny. The design I went with was an aztec print, as well as the addition of sun rays that relate back to the sun that is found on one of their original t-shirt designs.

The first step of this project was to create quotes that expressed themselves typographically in black and white. For the second step, we added color to emphasizing key components. In the end we created this double sided quote brochure, that also slid into it's own display pocket, which matched the brochures theme. The objective was to create quotes that stood out without using any elements other than type.
